for Mayor

Tony KUBAT

My name is Tony Kubat and I have the honor of running for mayor of Berlin Twp in 2025. I have lived in Berlin Twp since 2002 and have been married to my wonderful wife Chrissy since 2003, and we have 3 wonderful kids.

I have been a union sales rep since 2002 for Local 2D Liquor Sales Union and have been a shop steward in the union for the last 8 years.

I have coached youth sports since 2000 with my oldest kids through my now 16-year-old son. I can honestly say there is no better joy than seeing a child get better at something and see the pride that child has in what they have accomplished. While coaching in Berlin Township with the BTAA, it was continuously frustrating how difficult it was to have any sports programs for kids in our town. For that reason, one of my goals if elected is to bring sports back into our town. We need to get our beautiful facilities back open so our township kids can use them. They need an outlet and it is important for children to have that social interaction. While sports are not for every kid, I would like to explore other options for the kids to develop and interact with each other. Whether that be music, arts, science, book clubs, esports clubs or whatever we can find to keep the kids engaged and socially active.

Also, I would like to start some program where we have the community get to know each other a little and communicate better. Not just social media, where that can be counterproductive at times. Maybe we can have some more community events on a regular or semi-regular basis. I believe with the help of our residents and local businesses we can get this done where there is not a huge financial burden on any parties. We would also need to make sure public safety is accomplished.

Speaking of public safety, I have the utmost respect for the police department that put their life on the line every day for our safety. While I am not familiar with the newer officers in town, job #1 will be getting to know them and finding out what we can do to help them do their job better and safer. I will welcome their feedback and respect the job they do.

Taxes are always a hot button issue, considering New Jersey has ridiculous property tax rates. We will do a thorough analysis of the budget to see if there is anywhere, we can improve. In fact, that analysis work has already started. More to come.

If elected I want to be as transparent as possible with the residents about what is going on. We will be moving council meetings to a reasonable time when residents can come and voice their opinions, whether I like them or not.

Thank you for this opportunity and I hope you can see the change that is needed.

for Council

Kim

REED

My name is Kimberly Reed (Kim) and I am running for Council Member in Berlin Township. Along with my husband, I have spent the last 26 years, raising my family of 5 children in this wonderful town and we have just welcomed our first grandchild in April.

During this time, I have made my career in the title insurance business and worked at Anywhere Integrated Services for almost 23 years. I have also volunteered on AIS CARES committee. I have been on this committee for the last 15 years. The CARES committee prides themselves on helping local charities such as Providence House (domestic violence shelter), Puppies and more, and Veteran’s associations.

I have also been very proud to have been elected and to serve on the Berlin Township Board or Education and Pine Hill Board of Education for the last 10 years. While serving on the board of education I was actively involved with hiring Dr. Williams as superintendent in Pine Hill School District and Mr. Lee as superintendent in Berlin Township School District. I worked with the both boards while trying to figure the best course of action during the Covid Crisis of 2020.

I am also proud to be part of the board that tried to save programs and jobs when we had a budget issue in 2020. These are just a few items that I have been a part of while on the Board of Education. I have also actively been involved with the Site Council at Overbrook. This is a group of teachers, staff members, parents, BOE members and community members that are working together to make Overbrook the best school it can be.

In my 26years of living Berlin Township, I have seen the decline of various programs, park usage, lack of community events and much more. In my opinion, community outings are an integral part of the family time and nothing is more important than moments spent loved ones, whether you are visiting your favorite restaurant in town, watching your kids play sports, attending school functions or shopping at a local business. I am ready and willing to advocate for our families, to help bring back those important moments where we can all celebrate our town together.

My goal along with my running mates is to provide change and growth in our community and do things the right way.

for Council

Ron ODEGAARD

My name is Ron Odegaard. I was raised on a cattle ranch in Eastern Oregon.

After graduating high school, I enlisted in the US Navy, ultimately being stationed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. It was while I was there that I met my future wife, Gina.

Gina was raised in Berlin Twp and we decided to grow roots in her hometown. Together, Gina and I have raised six children and currently have four grandchildren with a fifth due in the fall.

Our children all went through Berlin Township Public Schools and Overbrook High School. Today, they all remain close to home, clinging to the strong bond they have as a family.

I have been an employee of Berlin Boro Public Works since 2001.  I am a dedicated employee and I humbly appreciate the opportunity that has been given to me. You may see me on the road occasionally and I encourage you to stop me and say “hi!”

I am committed to growing Berlin Twp into a community that neighboring towns will come to visit, whether it be sporting events, flea markets or seasonal activities. Together, we can all grow Berlin Twp and once again flourish in all it has to offer.
